Bright Red Nurse Takes Up Post In Sunderland Royal Hospital

We are delighted to share with you that our second Bright Red Nurse has now taken up post in Sunderland Royal Hospital, thanks to our investment of nearly £80,000.

With another Clinical Nurse Specialist in Sunderland’s service they are able to offer a far superior service to their haematology patients. We would anticipate that the huge majority of patients would be able to meet with a CNS prior to starting chemo, giving patients the opportunity to ask questions, familiarize themselves with the hospital and the team and also just take some time to build a relationship with their key worker. This post will make such a difference. We are so proud to support it and thankful to all our supporters for making it happen.

As most of you know we already fund a nurse at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care. Due to the increase in demand on haematology services in our region, coupled with the financial constraints of the NHS, the charity are working tirelessly with Trust’s from across the North to try and fund an outreach nurse in every area of the northern region.

We would like to wish the successful candidate, Jill Bell, all the very best in her new role! We are sure you will make a wonderful addition to the fantastic team at Sunderland.
