Bright Red Turns Five!

In 2015 Bright Red turns five. During our first five years Bright Red has invested over £1,000,000 to improve patient care, develop staff, support research and purchase equipment across the north east.

We have plans to increase support in all three of our key areas and will soon be launching our £5 for 5 regular giving campaign to help us achieve our goals. More to come soon.

Isolation Room Renovation

Our plans to renovate the isolation rooms on Ward 33 are going well. We’re over the moon with what the designers have have proposed and are really excited to be moving forward with the project.

The next stage of the redevelopment will be fine tuning our plans with the teams at the hospital.

The biggest challenge we’re going to face is completing the work with minimal impact on the ward. The isolation rooms are nearly always in use, so we’re going to have to plan the renovation very carefully.

Our charity car Nobby has started its tour of the UK!

Over the weekend we were well and truly blown away by the generosity from our supporters.

Trinity Car Solutions and Andy Preece surprised us with the news that our very own charity car is on the roads. For the next 8 months New Zealand couple Bill and Jody will be travelling across the UK, promoting our charity along the way.

The car has been named Nobby in memory of Andy’s brother, who sadly passed away after battling AML. Andy has been raising money to help the fight against blood cancer ever since.

We’re extremely grateful to Trinity Car Solutions for all the work they have done to benefit the charity. We’re also very thankful to Bill & Jody for all that they are going to do over the next 8 months.

Yet again we find ourselves in awe of Andy. He’s had a hell of a few years but he’s remained strong and focused on helping others. His determination, passion and drive is inspiring and we’re very proud to call him an Ambassador.

We’re really looking forward to Bill & Jody’s updates. If you’d like to follow Nobby too, please like their page. If you spot the car, don’t forget to take a picture, send it to us, and you could win an overnight stay.

Lee Robson Patient Care Grants Reach Milestone

We’ve passed a new milestone, in that we have now given out over 100 Lee Robson Patient Care Grants.

The 100th grant was given to a patient receiving treatment at the Freeman Hospital. At the same time their son is undergoing treatment for cancer at the RVI, meaning the family are spending time (and money) visiting both hospitals. The grant will give the family some much needed breathing room.

Our 101st grant was given to a patient receiving palliative care. The grant will pay for a weekend away for the family.

These grants make a massive difference to people at a time of great need.

The Lee Robson Patient Care Grants provide a lifeline to the patients in most need. We’re eternally grateful to Lee’s family and friends for all that they continue to do. They’ve helped so many families.
